Good Day, Hockey Fans! We can all exhale now. Last night’s game was nothing short of amazing. If you’re a Lightning fan, your team regained the home-ice advantage against the Blackhawks, but don’t schedule that parade just yet.
In an exciting, action packed game, the Tampa Bay Lightning edged the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in game three of the Stanley Cup Final. Lightning forward Cedric Paquette scored the game-winning goal at the 3:11 mark of the third period to slip past the Blackhawks.
The story of the game three, forward Patrick Kane (0g-0a—0pts) and a plus/minus -1. Kane isn’t the only one not scoring, forward Jonathan Toews (0g-0a—0pts) and a plus/minus 0. What’s even more amazing, Andrew Shaw has more points than Toews and Kane combined during the Stanley Cup Final. I am still trying to put my hands around that one.
If the Blackhawks are going to come back to win this series, Toews and Kane are going to have to start chipping in on the scoresheet. After game three Toews was frustrated.
“It’s frustrating,” Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews said. “A lot of things we did today gave us the feeling we were going to come out on top with the effort we gave. It was just a couple of little bad habits that ended up hurting us.”
Again, Lightning goalie Ben Bishop was solid in net stopping 34/35 shots to secure the win, but at times looked like he was suffering from some kind of an injury. Lightning head coach Jon Cooper wouldn’t elaborate on what is ailing Bishop.
“We’ll have to wait till whenever this series ends for that,” Cooper said. “Sorry.”
There’s one thing for certain, Toews and Kane will be heard from before the Stanley Cup Final is over. I don’t think anyone believes that the Blackhawks dynamic duo will be held off of the scoresheet forever. The Lightning defense will need to find a way to minimize their scoring opportunities.
Let’s take a look at what’s making the news in the hockey world today.
