Good Morning Hockey Fans! First, the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs have been nothing short of amazing. Last night’s game between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Tampa Bay Lightning didn’t disappoint.
Entering last night’s game, the Lightning were 41-0-2 when leading after two periods (playoffs and regulars season included). Also, the Lightning had a 9-0 record when scoring first during the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. After losing 2-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks, the Bolts are now 9-1.
Through two periods of hockey, the Lightning played a sound game defensively. The Lightning were able to hold the Blackhawks to a mere 13 shots through two periods of play. The Lightning defense also held Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane to four shots combined. That’s an impressive feat doesn’t happen very often.
The Blackhawks turned the tables on the Lightning in the third period limiting them to just two shots in the final 18 minutes. Teuvo Teravainen and Antoine Vermette scored three minutes apart to lead the Blackhawks past the Lightning 2-1.
In the end, the Lightning failed to put the Blackhawks away when they had a chance and it ended up coming back to bit them. Let’s take a look at few of the stories that are making the rounds on Thursday morning.
