San Jose Sharks general manager Doug Wilson announced today that the team has issued qualifying offers to forwards Tomas Hertl, Matt Nieto and Ryan Carpenter along with defenseman Dylan DeMelo.
Hertl had 21 goals and 25 assists last season when he thrived on the top line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski. Hertl suffered a right knee injury in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, but is expected to be a key part of the team again next season.
The Sharks did not make offers to forwards Chris Crane, Petter Emanuelsson, Jeremy Langlois and Jeremy Morin along with goalie Joel Rumpel. As a result, they will become unrestricted free agents.
Teams will be allowed to sign free agents beginning on July 1st.
