After a three-year hiatus, the University of Wisconsin Badgers returns to the Ralph Engelstad Arena. With realignment, UND has taken on new rivals and conference teams. New rivalries aside, there is nothing like renewing an old rivalry at home. UND has been able to keep the rivalry with the Wisconsin Badgers going, but it’s been a while since the hated Badgers last played at the Ralph.
How long has it been?
This will be the first time the Badgers have played against UND in Grand Forks, ND since February 1-2, 2013. UND would take three-of-four points from the Badgers with a (1-1 T, 4-1 W).
Since taking over in net, third-string, walk-on junior goalie, Matt Hrynkiw is (5-0-1, 1.48 GAA, .942 Sv%). Hrynkiw is ranked 13th in the nation. Those are pretty impressive numbers for a goalie, no matter what place he is in the pecking order. I would imagine that Matej Tomek, Cam Johnson are going to have to earn their way back into the lineup.
