It will be difficult for Igor Shesterkin to top his terrific Vezina Trophy-winning season, but with a young roster jelling in front of him, their improvements could make his job quite a bit easier. In particular, more goal-scoring support could certainly help improve his regular season won-loss record, especially if he keeps posting save percentages north of .930.
When viewing these rankings, it’s important to note that goalies expected to get more playing time have been ranked higher as a result (more wins and shutouts), but that doesn’t mean we rank them higher for long-term dynasty purposes. Look for our separate dynasty rankings to come out next week.
Also, the following goalies are ranked where they are based upon our expectations for their performance and their team’s performance. However, things can change very quickly. In Florida, where a championship-calibre team has been assembled, it wouldn’t be a huge shock for Spencer Knight (32) to overtake Sergei Bobrovsky (11) for the Panthers’ starting role at some point this season. Should that happen, Knight would leapfrog 15-20 goalies in the rankings, whereas Bobrovsky would find himself on the edge of the top 32. If you draft any of these goalies, you should give strong consideration to dedicating a bench spot to their backups:
- Sergei Bobrovsky (Spencer Knight)
- Matt Murray (Ilya Samsonov)
- John Gibson (Lukas Dostal)
- Ville Husso (Alex Nedeljkovic)
- Logan Thompson (Laurent Brossoit)
- Vitek Vanacek (MacKenzie Blackwood)
Without further ado, here are our top 60 goalies for the 2022-23 season…
