Grand Forks, ND — The University of North Dakota beat the University of Minnesota-Duluth 4-1. The Fighting Hawks scored three in the first with goals from Mark Senden, Hayden Shaw, and Casey Johnson. Bulldogs forward Nick Swaney scored the loan Duluth goal. Junior forward Cole Smith scored an empty net goal to ice the game for the Fighting Hawks.
Game two is tomorrow at 7:07 pm ct. With the win, UND improves to 15-13-2, 9-9-1 NCHC. With the loss, UMD falls to 19-9-2, 11-7-1 NCHC.
