I would probably look to draft
a centerman as a replacement down the road. I think that [Jack] Studnicka is a player who has
offensive attributes. We’re going to see him be a pro this year and develop. He won’t be rushed
along. He’s got areas of his game he needs to continue to evolve and get stronger. Again, Frederic
is another centerman, so we have depth within the organization, but it’s hard to replace those guys.
Those guys are elite, elite hockey players and have been such for a long period of time. Generally,
you have to select them, draft them, develop them and put them in there and let them grow.
Seven players from USA Hockey's Under-18 team from the National Team Development Program were selected among the top 15 picks at the 2019 NHL Draft, the most ever from one team at that stage of the draft. Eight NTDP players went in the first round overall.
I thought that was the easiest way to win a game, focus on team defense, do your job, trust the guy beside you, not worry about the scoring aspect or pressuring yourself. We have good players, eventually someone is going to step up, that's what we felt happened last night, that same formula.
It's game to game for me. We really try to use everybody. I think that's how we're built. That's how we've had the most success, is by using everybody, getting everybody involved.
I always talk about our best attribute is our team, our team play. By that we use everybody. I don't see any difference going forward here. We need everybody's best game.
