New Winter Classic Start Time: 8pm EST

Breaking news, as reported by the NHL Network: The Winter Classic’s start time has been moved from 1 PM EST to 8 PM EST.

With temperatures expected to be in the 50s and rain all but certain during the morning and afternoon, taking proactive to move the start time and accommodate the conditions makes it far more likely that the event will be a great success. The storm should be well past Pittsburgh by 8 PM, ensuring far better ice conditions.

As an added bonus, moving the game to prime time means its potential reach/exposure will be much greater, particularly with regard to fans on the West Coast.
