WEST Wins in Shootout 8-7

Atlantic City, NJ - A crowd of 6113 fans were treated to some great hockey at the Historic Boardwalk Hall. The AHL was showcasing its top talent for the first time in a non AHL city. Not only were the fans treated to a great hockey game, but during the first intermission and throughout most of the game the teams mascots put on quite a show of their own.
The Eastern Conference would take an early advantage in what looked like would be a blowout, taking a 6-2 lead after the first period. The second period would be all Western Conference, as the West tallied three goals to get within a goal. Yan Danis of the Oklahoma City Barons stopped all 11 shots that he faced, allowing his Western team to get back into the game. The Western all-stars would knot the game at seven all sending the game to a shootout. The shootout saw the West netting 2 goals while the East couldn’t get a puck past Peoria Rivermen’s Ben Bishop. Bishop would be the number 1 star of the game and be named the games MVP.
