New England is the Hub of Hockey; the fan base for the sport itself is incredible. Fans often view players in a heroic light; pledging allegiance to a team that they love. While great skaters protect the ice; there are even greater men and women protecting this country.
As a contributor at Inside Hockey, I wanted to take a moment to urge New England hockey fans or fans across the league to contribute and attend a unique event honoring a fallen soldier.
First Lt. Scott F. Milley was killed this past November in Afghanistan. Although a soldier, being part of the hockey community was a huge part of Scott’s life. Scott attended my alma mater Lincoln Sudbury Regional and advanced to become a team captain his senior year.
On April 10th his friends, family and past team mates will take on the Boston Bruins Alumni in a game to benefit the Scott F. Milley Memorial Scholarship. It will be a fun game with past Bruins players; but more importantly it will honor the memory of a truly brave and spectacular person.
