The Columbus Blue Jackets play host to the Minnesota Wild, in a game that was full of quick goals and hard hits. Columbus was on the board first with a shorthanded goal from Antoine Vermette. Emotions ran high on the ice early as Blue Jacket Derek Dorsett squared off with Minnesota’s Warren Peters. Dorsett also had 6 hits against Minnesota. Columbus Blue Jackets goalie Steve Mason made 20 saves and Columbus had 45 shots on goal to tie a season high.

Early in the second Blue Jacket new comer Mark Letestu put another one in net to put the Blue Jackets up 2-0, then Minnesota answered with goals from Matt Cullen and Nick Johnson just 20 seconds apart. Minnesota then controlled the game with goalie Niklas Backstrom making 43 saves and by sealing the deal with an empty net goal late in the third period by Cal Clutterbuck.

Columbus falls short to Minnesota 4-2 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
