The New York Islanders suffered a difficult 2-3 loss against the visiting Buffalo Sabres Saturday night at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Islanders out-shot the Sabres 43-15, but couldn’t manage to get the edge against Buffalo Sabres Goaltender Ryan Miller who saved an outstanding 36/38 shots on net. Although the Sabres were out-shot, they were extremely efficient scoring on 3/15 shots on net, including Thomas Vanek’s goal which extended his goal scoring streak to a NHL Leading 11 this season.
Other Storylines: The game against the Buffalo Sabres marked the return of New York Islanders Center Josh Bailey #12, who played in his first game of the season, after being injured prior to training camp. Joining Bailey in his first game of the 2012-13 season was Lubomir Visnovsky who played in his first game as an Islander, after he was traded prior to the Islanders by the Anaheim Ducks prior to the start of the 2012 Draft.
