The Los Angeles Kings enter the 2011-12 season with expectations the highest they’ve been since the Gretzky-era. The Kings added some much needed secondary scoring with the acquisitions of center Mike Richards and winger Simon Gagne. The Kings also added some more veterans to their bottom-six with the free-agent signing of Ethan Moreau and the much publicized acquisition of Colin Fraser. Unfortunately, the Kings started camp without their top defenseman Drew Doughty. A restricted free-agent, Doughty and the Kings have not been able to come to terms on a contract extension. Rookie blueliner Vyacheslav Voynov has gotten a long look in camp by head coach Terry Murray with the Kings preparing to start the season without Doughty in the lineup.
