History was made Friday night when the Anaheim Ducks clinched their spot in the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 2-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings. The Ducks and Kings will be in the playoffs together for the first time ever. Friday night’s low-scoring affair was dominated by veterans; 35-year-old Ryan Smyth netted the only Kings goal and 40-year old Teemu Selanne scored both goals for the Ducks. Dan Ellis made 23 saves for the victory; Jonathan Quick made 26 saves in a losing effort. The Kings and Ducks wrap up the regular season Saturday night at Staples Center.
