The Anaheim Ducks defeated the visting New York Islanders 4-2 on Friday evening at Honda Center. The two teams seemed to sleep-walk thru the first period combining for only eleven shots on goal. The pace picked up the final two periods. Anaheim’s top players responded to GM Bob Murray’s remarks following Wednesday’s loss to San Jose with one of their strongest efforts of the season in the final two periods. Bobby Ryan led the way for Anaheim with two goals including a highlight reel shorthanded goal during the third period which tied the game. Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf, who’s faced the most criticism of any Duck this season responded with the game-winning goal in the third period for his seventh of the season. Anaheim goaltender Jonas Hiller made 19 saves for the victory. Hiller was shaky at times but made a couple key saves in the final minutes to preserve the victory. Islanders goaltender Evgeni Nabokov allowed four goals on 20 shots in the loss.
