The New York Islanders extend their winning streak to 3 as they defeat the Carolina Hurricanes in overtime 2-1 Saturday Night at The Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.
Jeff Skinner opened the scoring at 8:43 of the first period to put carolina ahead 1-0. It wasn’t until 7:46 of the second period when John Tavares scored to tie the game at 1. The Islanders had 23 shots on Cam Ward in the second period but but neither team would score again in regulation.
It wasn’t until the 3:58 mark of overtime when John Tavares scored the game winner, his 19th goal of the season, which extended his point streak to 12 games. Evgeni Nabokov stopped 32 shots for the Islanders as Ward stopped 40 for the Hurricanes. The Islanders have now won four of their last five games.
