The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins lowered their magic number for the best record in the league to one point Friday night with a 6-3 victory over the Charlotte Checkers. The Penguins erupted for four goals in the first period, then tacked on a goal in the second and third periods. Brad Thiessen recorded his league leading 33rd win. Brian Lerg got the game winning goal shorthanded.
