The New York Islanders although they played well couldn’t hold a two-goal lead and lost this one to the Ducks 5-3.
The Ducks would score 4 times in the third period to take the game and extend their winning streak to 8 games.
It was Kyle Palmieri that scored the winning goal with 6:16 remaining in the third period.
The victory moved the Ducks into first place in the overall standings with 57 points.
“Our third periods have been absolutely horrendous,” Islanders captain John Tavares said. “Whether the calls go against you or not, you still have to find a way to get the job done.”
Thomas Vanek scored two goals and Frans Nielsen one for the Islanders, but the slumping Islanders would go on eight of 10 games this month.
