The Los Angeles Kings held their annual Development Camp on July 11th and 12th at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, CA. The camp featured 35 players including 14 camp invitees. With heralded former prospect Brayden Schenn traded to Philadelphia and many of the Kings top players already playing major minutes for the Kings and their AHL-affiliate Manchester Monarchs, the camp lacked the luster of year’s past.
WHL scoring champion Linden Vey (2009 4th round pick) and OHL scoring champion Tyler Toffoli (2010 2nd round pick) were the standouts amongst the forward groups. Defenseman Jake Muzzin (2009 free agent) who appeared in 11 games with the Kings last year looked poised to challenge for a spot this season. Goaltender Martin Jones (2008 free agent) showed why he was a 2010-11 AHL All-Star in his first professional season.
