Niagara Top Pick in Atlantic Hockey Preseason Coaches Poll

The Atlantic Hockey Association has released its 2013-14 Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday morning. After its first NCAA Tournament appearance representing Atlantic Hockey, Niagara ranks in as the top pick by the coaches. Niagara received three (3) first place votes and totaled 102 points overall.

Mercyhurst and Air Force rounded out the top-three both receiving 98 points overall. However, Mercyhurst was tabbed with four (4) first place votes while Air Force only received two (2).

After its first Atlantic Hockey Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance last season, Canisius grabbed three (3) first place votes and finished in fourth place with 92 points.

Last year’s Atlantic Hockey regular season champions, Niagara kick off the Atlantic Hockey regular season on Saturday, Oct. 5 as it hosts Clarkson at home.
