With his impressive career stats, it’s surprising Rick Nash doesn’t have much playoff success to show for it. A long time player and captain for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Nash has only brought his team to the post-season once. But now that he’s in New York, it’s a whole different story.
Nash stated in an intermission interview how excited he was about the post-season and that he thinks the Rangers have a good chance of advancing further into the playoffs. He’s determined and definitely in the right mind-set now that he’s on a team with better chemistry. Ranger’s announcer Sam Rosen mentioned humorously during game 1 that Rick Nash was ‘thirsty’ for the Stanley Cup.
A good amount of players on the Rangers roster have Stanley Cup experience including Brad Richards, Marty St. Louis, and Daniel Carcillo. A team that brings out the best in his skill now surrounds Nash, playing alongside Mats Zuccarello, Derek Stepan, Carl Hagelin, and Benoit Pouliot.
“Stay level-headed through it all. You have highs and lows, but it’s important to stay level-headed at all times,” Nash stated, quoting a piece of advice St. Louis offered him.
Nash is in full playoff mode, and has no intention of his post-season being cut short.
