Isles Add Wisniewski in Trade With Ducks

The New York Islanders have acquired defenseman James Wisniewski from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a conditional third round draft choice in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Wisniewski, 26, had three goals and 30 points in 69 games for Anaheim last season.  The point total was a career high for the Canton, Michigan, native.  He also led the Ducks in blocked shots with 102 and second on the team with 129 hits.

“We see James as a key addition to our team and we feel our fans will connect with his style of play,” Isles’ GM Garth Snow said. “He is a solid puck-moving defenseman who can bring an added element of toughness to our blue-line.”

Wisniewski has 17 goals and 97 points in 254 career NHL games.  He also has 264 penalty minutes in his career with the Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks.
