Interview: Bears Forward Casey Wellman

The Washington Capitals traded for forward Casey Wellman from the Florida Panthers yesterday, sending forward Zach Hamill to Florida in the deal. Inside Hockey caught up with Wellman for his thoughts on the trade, playing in Hershey and rejoining former teammates Jeff Taffe, T.J. Syner and Jon DiSalvatore. Below is the interview transcript. Q: What was your reaction to the trade?

Wellman: “I am excited about the trade. I think trades are part of the business. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right fit.”

Q: What do you already know about the fans in Hershey?

Wellman: “Hershey is a great organization. I know they are used to a winning atmosphere and the fans are committed and enthusiastic.”

Q: His style of play from the forward position:

Wellman: “I am an offensive player with speed.”

Q: On reuniting with Jeff Taffe and Jon DiSalvatore:

Wellman: I am looking forward to playing with those guys again. They are great hockey players and better people.”

Q: On his preference to play on the wing or at the center position:

Wellman: “In my career I have played both center and wing quite a bit, so at those point I like things about both positions.”
