Hershey Trounces Bridgeport 9-2

The Hershey Bears get grizzly when they lose. And when they do lose, this team usually takes it out on whomwever comes onto the ice next.

The Bears lost Thursday night against the Toronto Marlies and suffered through a long bus trip back through a bad winter storm.

Two nights later, Hershey kept their home winning streak alive, notching their 21st consecutive win at the Giant Center in a 9-2 beat-down against the visiting Sound Tigers. All nine goals came during the first two periods.

Hershey forward Mathieu Perreault recorded a hat trick on a penalty shot in the
second period and then added another score for his fourth goal of the
game. Perreault went into the game with 10 goals on the season. It was
a great time to Perreault to break out because Washington Capitals
Coach Bruce Boudreau was in attendance after holding a book signing on
the concourse prior to the game.

Andrew Gordon also has two goals in the game for Hershey, during a game in which they where honoring their NHL parent club by wearing special Capitals jerseys that were to be auctioned after the game. Hershey’s Steve Pinnizotto had four assists in the game.

Bridgeport goalie Nathan Lawson was chased from the game after giving up five goals on 13 shots. Scott Munroe relieve him but surrendered another four goals to the Hershey onslaught. Hershey netminder Braden Holtby had 22 saves on 24 shots to raise his record to 18-5-1.

Special Note: tomorrow’s Bears game against the Penguins in Wilkes-Barre
is changed to a 1:05 p.m. start, because of the 3 p.m. face-off in the USA vs. Canada Gold Medal game in Vancouver.
