The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks top prospects faced off in the SoCal Hockey Futures Game on Saturday evening. More than 7,500 hockey fans packed Honda Center, many of them beating the 97 degree heat outside.
The Kings defeated the Ducks 6-1. The Kings offense was led by forwards Andy Andreoff and Tanner Pearson, both scored a pair of goals. The Kings were backstopped by J.F. Berube, who stopped 26-of-27 shots before giving way to Mathias Niederberger in the third period. Anaheim Ducks starting goaltender Frederik Anderson stopped 25-of-27 shots.
The Ducks lone goal was scored by 2011 first round pick Rickard Rakell.
The Ducks and Kings will play once more on Monday evening at the Kings Training Center in El Segundo, CA.
