The Boston Bruins defeated the Los Angeles Kings tonight, 4-2. The Bruins were locked in a 1-1 tie, before taking a 3-1 lead in the third period, and then Tim Thomas would save the day and gave the Bruins a 4-2 victory. Here are my five observations.
Number Five- Jonathan Quick
In a battle of Team USA goaltenders, Jonathan Quick proved his ability. The Bruins do not get to see Quick or the Kings all too much, therefore, had little experience with the former Hockey East goaltender. He kept the Kings in this goalie battle.
Number Four- Third Period
The Bruins just seem to be able to flip a switch in that third period. The Bruins played a pretty good game the entire time, scoring the first goal before letting the Kings tie it, but in the third period they scored two goals to take the lead.
Number Three- Chris Kelly
Chris Kelly and Rich Peverley seem to be interlinked with each other, ever since they both came to Boston at the same time last trading deadline. Now as Peverely is getting ready to make his return, Kelly has stepped up and become the top secondary scorer for the Bruins. Tonight he was just as important, scoring a goal for the B’s.
Number Two- Tim Thomas
Is Tim Thomas back? After a long time of being worried about Marty Turco and the back up goalie, Thomas has played three solid games in a row, against Philadelphia, San Jose and Los Angeles, pushing away any doubts of his status.
Number One- No Corvo
I have been unable to post the last few days so you have not seen my daily Joe Corvo rant. Have you noticed, they play four games and win three of them, when Corvo is not in the lineup? I won’t go crazy, but I’m just saying, there is a huge difference with him not playing, like I called for six months ago.
The Bruins take on the Anaheim Ducks tomorrow night at 8pm.
