The Boston Bruins have a new streak going, getting their second straight win tonight. After defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night, tonight they defeated the Los Angeles Kings. Tuukka Rask made 41 saves in the 3-0 win. Here are my five observations.
Number Five- Benoit Pouliot
I think we were all wrong on Benoit Pouliot. Everyone bashed him from the time he signed, and he did get off to a terrible start, earning the Twitter nickname of “Poo-Liout.” Tonight he picked up an assist on the Rich Peverley goal, and he showed all game once again that he has the ability to remain engaged in a full 60-minute game.
Number Four- Zach Hamill
Hamill was back tonight for his third NHL game of the season, replacing the injured Greg Campbell, and to me, he impressed. In the Peverley goal he picked up the primary assist with a fantastic pass from the other side of the net. He will likely play again tomorrow night in Ottawa, and he has a chance to leave a good impression,
Number Three- Passing
It seems like when the Bruins win in decisive manner, they pass very crisp and clean. Tonight was one of those nights where you just can see right off the bat that they are going to be able to pass the puck well and get clean breaks into their own zone.
Number Two- Brad Marchand
After being fined for a penalty in the game against Pittsburgh last week, Marchand came out as the “Good Brat” tonight. He scored two goals on the night and was engaged in the game for the entire portion of the 60 minutes, and he remained disciplined without taking any penalties.
Number One- Tuukka Rask
Rask came in with the start after finishing the game in Columbus on Saturday, and he made 41 saves in the shutout. Tim Thomas will likely get the start against the Senators tomorrow night, but it was good to see Rask getting involved.
