The New Jersey Devils acquired center Andrei Loktionov from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a fifth round draft pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Devils general manager/president Lou Lamoriello announced today.
Loktionov will report to the Devils AHL affiliate in Albany.
The Russian center is in his fourth professional season. He hasn’t played in the NHL yet, skating in 37 contests with the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL. He’s recorded 22 points (7g, 15a) and six penalty minutes. In 57 career NHL games, Loktionov has collected 14 points (7g, 7a) and four penalty minutes.
Loktionov had previous ties to the Devils organization. He was a member of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, playing with Adam Henrique and prospect Harry Young. Those three contributed to Windsor’s Memorial Cup Championship in 2008-09.
The Los Angeles Kings drafted Loktionov in the fifth round, 123rd overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
