The earliest word came from the Penguins Radio network this morning, when Steve Mears (the host of Penguins Live) announced that there is a press conferenced scheduled at the CONSOL Energy Center for tomorrow at 12:30 EDT. Then Pittsburgh radio station 105.9 The X (“home of the Pittsburgh Penguins”) followed that up with a similar announcement.
There has yet to be any confirmation from the Penguins organization themselves and nothing has been released as to what the press conference will address. Most likely it will deal with Crosby’s progress and status for training camp and the upcoming season; however, whether it will be positive or negative news remains anyone’s guess.
An article regarding the press conference can also be found at SBNation.
… Rob Rossi has some ideas. Basically, Crosby saw a doctor in July who said it was fine for him to work out, but not to play full-contact, due to his concussion symptoms. He went to other doctors in August to get more opinions, and Rossi says the Penguins wanted Crosby to talk to the media if those meetings with doctors turned up any significant news.
There will be answers tomorrow, which is earlier than expected. Penguins training camp is about a week away and the 2011-12 season is another month away.
