The Washington Capitals announced that they have traded forward, Matthew Ford to the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman, Kevin Marshall. Also on Thursday, the Capitals acquired center Mike Carman from the Colorado Avalanche. In return, the Bears had to give up defenseman, Danny Richmond to Colorado. Both Marshall and Carman are expected in the lineup Friday night at Wilkes-Barre.
Marshall, 22, has played 32 games for the Adirondack Phantoms this season, scoring two goals along with three assists. Marshall also had a brief stint with the Philadelphia Flyers this year, playing ten games at the NHL level.
At 23, Carman has tallied three goals and three assists in 28 games with the Colorado Avalanche’s minor league affiliate, the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters.
While acquiring help on defense, Hershey gave up a top scorer in Ford, who had compiled 10 goals and 18 assists (28 points) for Hershey through 39 games.
Richmond played in 24 games for Hershey, only totaling four assists.
The Bears are on the road Friday in Wilkes-Barre, home Saturday against the Connecticut Whales, and home Sunday against the Penguins from Wilkes-Barre again.
