The Hamilton Bulldogs have finally broken a five-game winless streak with a 6-3 victory against the St Johns Ice Caps onFriday night in front of 5,957 fans at Copps Coliseum.
Gabrielle Dumont of the Bullogs came up with two goals and an assist early in the first period as the Bulldogs scored threes time in the first period to race out to a huge lead. Dumont finished the game with five points as his five point game was the first five point game for a Bulldog this season.
In the second period the Ice Caps erased a three goal deficit and tied the game going into the third period thank to two goals by Jason Jaffray. During the second period the Bulldogs gave up a short handed goal and the Bulldogs were out shot 14-11.
The third periods was all Bulldogs as the Bulldogs scored on the first shot of the third period on a Morgan Ellis shot that came from the point that went through traffic and got by Ice Caps goalkeeper Eddie Pasquale.
Later in the third, Dumont helped the Bulldogs put away the Ice Caps with his third goal of the game at 18:30. The Bulldogs would close out the Ice Caps with an empty netter.
The win against the Ice Caps was a big win for the Bulldogs as they have been struggling of late, the Bulldogs had just one point in their last five games coming into Fridays game against the Ice Caps as they had fallen to the bottom of the North Division.
Up next for the Bulldogs is a three game road trip that takes them to Lake Erie, Rochester, and Toronto.
