While many people were out shopping in preparation for the upcoming holidays on the infamous “Black Friday,” the Boston Bruins hosted the Detroit Red Wings for a matinee showing at the TD Garden. Tuukka Rask had a chance to shine between the pipes and shine he did, making quite a few killer saves to frustrate the Red Wings’ snipers. The young Bruins goaltender is finally starting to prove his worth between the pipes, and is in line to become a regularly-used asset.
Despite the resulting 3-2 shootout loss to Detroit and an end to the Bruins’ 10-game winning streak, the team was collectively in a good mood post-game. The loss is just a temporary blip in the Bruins’ schedule, as they look ahead to another game tomorrow night when Winnipeg “Jets” into town for the first time since the team moved back to Winnipeg.
Former Bruins Mark Stuart and Blake Wheeler will be facing old friends tomorrow night, going from the now-defunct Thrashers to the newly-revived Jets. Many of you will remember that Stuart and Wheeler were traded to the Atlanta Thrashers for Rich Peverley last February. While the trade was upsetting to some of the Bruins faithful, its end result was that Peverley became an essential cog in the Bruins’ Stanley Cup victory.
Here’s post-game video from Patrice Bergeron, Tuukka Rask, Daniel Paille and Shawn Thornton…
