All-Star Snubbings

Last night the Boston Bruins ended the Philadelphia Flyers four-game winning. It was a big surprise to Flyers fans to let the streak end to rivals the Bruins, but what is even more surprising is that in the last 16 games the Flyers are 12-3-1 and still were snubbed by the All Star Games.

Claude Giroux was the only Flyer that made the All Star Roster. The Flyers are currently the top team in the Eastern Conference, well above the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals, but don’t worry these fourth and fifth place teams managed fill the Roster.

Penguins superstars Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Kris Letang, and Marc-Andre Fleury will be onced again matched up with Washington Capitals Mike Green and Alexander Ovechkin, in case you didn’t get enough of these two teams with the build up to the 2011 Winter Classic here is your chance to catch it again.

No Player is more baffled about missing the All Star Roster then one of the Flyers Leading Goal Scorers Daniel Briere. If anyone is on a scoring streak its Briere. He claimed two points last night, one assist, and the goal to give the Flyers the temporary lead over Boston with 12:19 left in the third period.

In the 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres on January 11, Briere recorded a season high four points — which also tied a career high — with a goal and three assists. Briere knows how to bring great chemistry to the ice and deliver and follow through on his plays. Sounds like just the player you would want to see skating side by side other teams All Stars or honing his skills in the All Star skills competition.

More often than not, the NHL All Star Game doesn’t get the media attention or the viewership that the league is anticipating. The NHL is trying to attract new audiences to the game but in doing so they managed to snub their current devout hockey fans.

The All Star Game is always a match up of the best players from all 30 teams on the East and the West going head to head one weekend in January. Every team was represented, so every fan of those teams was more then likely watching.
